About this Design Template

This design features the dental insignia (aka emblem, symbol, logo) at the center with personalization in a circle around the emblem. You can customize the name of the dental school, as well as the name of the dentist and the year they graduated.

It is perfect for a personalized / customized gift for a dentist for their graduation, for a  special occasion, for a dentist that is hard to buy for just because!

We chose to accent the background with the color lilac from the official dental insignia because lilac conveys compassion, purpose and inspiration AND Dental graduates today incorporate purple on their caps and gowns.

The design is fully customizable - contact us if you need help with customizing this design on the product of your choice.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE INSIGNIA / EMBLEM / LOGO:

The American Dental Association started using this insignia as the official symbol of dentistry in 1965. The emblem of dentistry is taken from Asclepius, a Greek god of medicine and healing. His symbol is a physician’s staff with a snake wrapped around it. The snake’s shedding of skin represented healing and rejuvenation. In honor of Asclepius, ancient Greeks would use non-venomous snakes in healing rituals and let them crawl freely on the floor among the sick and injured.

On the periphery of the emblem, you will notice two Greek letters, Delta ( Δ ) and Omicron ( Ο ). Delta represents dentistry, and Omicron is a symbol for odont, or tooth. The word “Dentistry” is inscribed upon the bottom half of the circle.

The interior of the circle is a particular shade of purple called lilac, which dates back to the National Association of Dental Faculties in 1897. To this day, dental graduates use purple in their gowns and caps, and the color is often found in dental publications.

In the center of the insignia there is snake coiled around a physician’s staff comes from Asclepius, the ancient Greek god of medicine and healing.  Behind the snake there are two branches bearing 20 berries and 32 leaves representative of the permanent and temporary teeth.

Product Description

For those of you who love DIY, especially for your own apparel, we have just the thing for you! Sublimation Transfers are little different from iron on transfers which are made from Heat Transfer Vinyl and can be applied to various apparel and fabrics with an iron. You will need your own heat press for this sublimation project!

For best results, the sublimation transfer has to be applied to 100% white polyester apparel or fabric. The transfer is applied using a heat press at 365 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit depending on the material. The ink turns into gas and attaches itself to the polyester fibers. You can use polyester blends (at least 50%), but they have to be light colors. The sublimated colors will NOT be as bright and vivid as they are with white fabrics.

There are multiple advantages to sublimation. The first one being that you can do full color detailed art. You don't have to layer the art work - you print and sublimate. Easy as that! The second big advantage is that you can do backgrounds. For example, you can sublimate a mug with backgrounds, as well as graphics and text.

The disadvantages include the fact that you need a heat press, since irons do not get hot enough. Also, sublimation is part science, part art, so it takes practice to get consistently good results. If you are a DIYer, you like a challenge, or have master sublimation skills, then these transfers are for you!

If you are doing a group or team order and need a large number of the same transfer, call us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
